Fortune Global 100 companies received 5,596,998 mentions in a single month on Twitter, making the social networking platform number one in driving conversation (The Nation).

The study also showed a shift in the type of content being shared. Global 100 companies are creating more original content than ever before; the world’s top companies are no longer just broadcasting information but are starting conversations and engaging with stakeholders like never before (The Nation). The top companies that are noted as being most involved include:

  • Ford

Within the past two years, Twitter has exploded as a platform showcasing growth estimated at 700%. The Global 100 has taken full advantage of this social media opportunity with 79% of corporations on the list retweeting and @mentioning to engage with followers (Slideshare).
